About

We built the network that wasn’t built for us.

In 2022, what it meant to be a Ukrainian living and working abroad changed. Suddenly hundreds of thousands of us needed each other — fast, and across every kind of question. UA Tech London is our answer.

Our story

Five friends became five hundred

There were Ukrainian diaspora organisations, but most were designed for a different generation and a different era. We wanted something that matched the people we knew — engineers at the world’s best companies, founders building global products from London, designers, scientists, operators — and reflected how that generation actually connects.

So Uliana Avtonomova and Margo Sivakova started a group chat. Five friends from Kyiv-to-London became eighty. Eighty became three hundred. Three hundred became five hundred — and counting. Invite-only, reputation-led, and warm enough that you actually know who’s in the room.

The shape of it

What UA Tech London is — and isn’t

It is

  • A curated community of Ukrainians working in tech in London
  • Invite-only and referral-based, with a real institute of reputation behind every member
  • A monthly rhythm of meetups, dinners, trips and gatherings — in person, not online
  • A network that supports Ukraine actively, through partnerships and members’ day jobs

It isn’t

  • A LinkedIn-style club where you collect contacts
  • A jobs board, a startup accelerator, or a charity
  • A public group anyone can join
  • A space for political flame wars, sales pitches, or self-promotion without substance

Five values

Not decorative

Every member agrees to them. Every referral is reviewed against them.

01

We’re in tech

Time together is better when we share at least three things to talk about — and tech gives us thirty. Non-tech friends are welcome as guests at events.

02

We run a reputation institute

Before anyone joins, we check they’ve had no affiliation with Russia in the last five years and no involvement in dubious activity. Non-negotiable. The full process is on our Code of Conduct.

03

We show up for the community

We’re not chasing 1,000+ members. We’re building a warm, considered group of people who actually want to spend time with each other.

04

We treat each other with respect

No ageism, no sexism, no toxic communication, no discrimination of any kind. Disagreement is welcome — argued well. People who don’t follow this are removed, quickly and without a fuss.

05

We share useful things, not noise

Members share events, opportunities and recommendations. The chat isn’t a platform for political dispute or self-promotion.
